Last BSU

Wow, what a great night.  I had so much fun helping to lead worship at the BSU.  It was a great thing to see that many people come out and support the BSU.  I honestly would be lost if it wasnt for the BSU.  I love spending the late Wed nights at the BSU studying "talking".  I also enjoyed getting to lead worship every once in a while.  I love to see my generation step up for Christ and claim his name on campus.  I know that times get hard and it seems like we always fall short, but Christ is there to pick us up, dust us off, and help us on our way.  I thank God everyday for placing me in  BSU where i can have quality friends, relationships, and fellowship.  The BSU has helped me grow closer to Christ through faith.  I praise God for a men like Troy and Brother Chris.  They have been great influences on me and i hope to receive the same blessings again next year.

See ya

Softball is amazing

well....Let me just say that church league softball is the best thing that has happened since U2.  Well almost as good as U2.  Anyways, i absolutely love softball.  It is the most amazing thing.  My church, Parkway Baptist, played tonight.  We won 6 to 2.  Even though it was a practice game it was still awesome.  The thing i love about it is that i get to play softball with a bunch of older guys... "is that gay?" anyways.  Its a sport that you do not have to be amazing at and you can still have fun.

Anyways, enough about softball domination.

I am really excited about being part of ICC's Fear Factor tomorrow.  I can eat just about anything so its ok.  However, i can not smell things or i will throw up everywhere..... "im sure your throwing up thinking about me throwing up everywhere"

Well, i hope i win the 50 gift card... cuz the Lord knows that i am broke.

Thats about it until we meet again

Extra Credit..... its like a Dream Come True

Well if you already do not know my intellectual capacity, its pretty low.  However, due to recent events in British Lit, i have increased my grade!.... i know you are dying to know how... right?... well she said if we start a blog we get ten points added to anything we wont...... how amazing is that?.... well... i know you all probably do not care but at the same time.... in the back of your mind you are thinking.... Wow... i wish i could get extra credit.

Haha... ne ways.... i recently returned from a shane and shane concert.  Wow.... it was amazing.  They blow my mind every time i see them.  However, it was a long trip to get to our destination.  We drove all the way to Illinois!..... but the ride was fun.  I got to fellowship with friends.

Well, Church League Softball is starting in two days and i am super excited.  I am probably the worst player on the team but it is still fun playing.  What i am about to say may sound cheesy but hear me out.

Two nights ago at the softball fields, we had a practice.  However, there were no other church teams to play.  We decided to play an industrial team "like Cooper Tire or something".  Many of them were not what you would call the "mirror christian" but who am i to judge... because i fall into that same category.  Anyways, after the game was over and my judgement passed on some of the attitudes of the other players, we had a prayer at the end of the game.

You could have felt the air sucked out of the circle we were in.  Those guys were completely shocked at the question of "Can we pray for you?"  Immediately i began to hear prayer request from their lips.  It was like a punch in the face.  When my pastor asked if we could pray with them i figured they would just say nothing.  However, there was cancer, death, and pain in all of their families.

I say all this to say that we as christians need to be mindfull of the needs of people who surround us.  I thought the whole time we were playing these guys that they had no respect for who God was or is.  However, my attitude was changed when i seen their hurt and pain.  It was an experience that has changed my attitude on the world.  I seem to sometimes generalize people into categories and forget that i am just like them only i have a hope of something greater.

Fully Man Fully Divine

Have you ever wandered how something can be so amazing yet as simple as something you have seen before?.... What i mean is... have you ever met a perfect person and yet they were the same as you but you couldn't get on there level.  Well.... as i was reading in my bible the past couple of days.... Matthew 26 kept ringing in my ear....

As a Christian sometimes i think we get a false picture and mentality of our saviour Jesus Christ.  What i mean is.... often times when we speak of him... we speak of how holy, mighty and powerful he was and that he was without sin.... Well all that is 100 percent true.  Even though this may not seem interesting to some people.... it is to me.  When i say that we get a false mentality, i merely mean that we sometimes forget that he was as much divine as he was human.

As Jesus was in Gethsemane, he was praying to his Father for guidance.  This passage stuck out to me because it paints a perfect picture of how human our saviour was.  He was under so much stress to the point to death, and yet he was praying that his decision would be that of his father's will.  No how many times, when faced with death, would we stand and take it?... yeah thats what i thought.  Christ knew that he had to face what would come to pass.... his crucifixion.

However, a perfect place where we can see his human characteristics is in verse 39.  He says to his father, "may this cup pass from me..... but not as i will... but as you will"  Here we can see that Jesus was seeing all of our sin that he would suffer for and that he was under stress.  He was under stress and pain, yet he was mindful of his father's will.

I think if we look at this passage in perspective, we can relate this to our lives.  I think sometimes when we are faced with difficult decisions, we often take the easy way out or run.  I am guilty as charged when it comes to this.  However, how powerful would the body of christ be if we would just embrace challenges of faith.  How powerful would we be if we pray for a way over the mountain than for the mountain to be removed.  I read this passage daily just to see my saviour, human but divine, resist the option of refusing his father's will and make the choice of submitting to his father's plan.  As a Christian, it is easy for us to fall to temptation sometimes.  That is why i look to this passage for guidance.

We often wonder why we are susceptible to temptation.  Well, Jesus gives us a clear guide to prepare ourselves for when the time comes.  In verse 40, he says to Peter, "Watch and pray so that you do not fall into temptation".  If we were to have an answer to a math problem in front of us... and we could use it on the test... would we use it?... Of course.... So when it comes to the tests of life... why not use Christ's answer to temptation.  He warns us that our spirit is willing but our body is weak.  This proves that apart from Christ's spirit in us... we are without escape from evil.

In conclusion, if we look at this passage for answers to struggles i can draw two solutions.
One, i say that if you are faced with struggles, then pray because your flesh is not capable of resisting the temptation.  And Two, understand that Christ was fully human and was faced with temptation just as we are, but he was 100 percent devoted to his father and his father in him.  This is the ultimate picture of how we are nothing without Christ.  Furthermore, we have another reason to worship a master that was fully human and without sin.  All this is not saying that we can live sin free, however, it is a guide to live righteously pursuing Christ when you are faced with trouble.  So remember that Christ saw you in that cup; he saw our sin, our doubts, and our evil ways.  However, he chose to take on our sin so that we would not be condemned.... What a Divine Man!

New At This

Well..... this is pretty weird for me to start a blog for two reasons.  Well for one, I am a procrastinator and will probably never update any of my stuff.... and two.... I never have anything ground breaking to say.  The positive view i have on having a blog would be the fact that i can complain and give my opinions to a text box without having to dodge a punch or listen to an "audible" complaint.  Well all that to say that i am excited to have started a blog to where i can share some of my crazy thoughts to interested readers.
